Old Coder Guy Book 1 FAQ

Following a shockingly successful six-month run on nerd TikTok, the Old Coder Guy franchise is ready to make a dent in traditional print media, with Old Coder Guy Book 1.

The book project started as a Kickstarter campaign which closed successfully in early March 2023.

Each chapter of this book is an essay about an aspect of technology, management, leadership, and how to learn in this space.  Contrary to rumor, there is no intentionally designed scratch-n-sniff in this first edition, but technically every book is scratch-n-sniff if you stop letting others set your boundaries and you don't know the word quit.

The book will talk about the tech careers that you don't see in the headlines... the jobs that *most* of us have, where we're grinding away on the 99% of the products and systems that aren't launched by turtleneck-wearing assholes on a conference center stage.  A bit of career advice, a bit of management and leadership advice, and absurd stories about things going wrong more often than they went right.

And most importantly, I'm doing my best not to regurgitate any nonsense you can get from a thousand other books.  Yes my friend... new, farm-fresh nonsense!  Most books make a straight run at topics like "management", but I'm going to flank that bastard and pop out from the box hedge it's walking past, where it will never see me coming until after I've taken out it's knees with my three iron of wisdom.  My god... just writing this description makes me want to read this book!
